OHBA Humanitarian Build

Aguas Negras is a neighbourhood of 2,500 in the industrial port area of Puerto Plata. It was built below the waste water treatment lagoons for Puerto Plata and has no sewage collection system of its own [or garbage collection]. The town was named for the black water that floods the streets and houses when heavy rains come. 6 teams of volunteers, all members of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association, built 6 homes for families selected by LiveDifferent, a local non-profit. The town was recently re-named to Barrio Nuevo Renacer [rebirth].
